Two New El Faro Restaurants Open In Warsaw

The group behind the two El Faro restaurants in Warsaw, Indiana might have just opened two locations but they’re not new to the scene. They’ve been successfully running La Troje for years so if experience counts towards anything, they’ll be just fine with two more restaurants, thank you very much. That, in turn, makes me as giddy as a One Directioner at all of the new singles coming from the former boy band members. That’s pretty darn happy.

If you’re anything like me, the discovery of a new Mexican restaurant in town is evidence enough that the next few days of your life are going to be imminently better. Much like churches, having too many restaurants listing Mexican fare on their menus is not a bad thing. They both do good in their own ways and it’s up to you whether or not you choose to walk through their front doors.

That’s why I was super duper stoked to find a new Mexican restaurant, El Faro (Spanish for “the lighthouse), had opened on Detroit St. right next to the taco truck (sometimes life presents you with two options that are impossible to choose from – this is one of those instances). Imagine my utter delight when I found out that the owners of El Faro had opened up a second location at Rozella Ford Golf Course. Don’t think it can get any better? Well, it does. The two El Faro restaurants were started by the owners of La Troje, a popular downtown Warsaw staple that is almost an every week go to for my family. Hence, the ability to open two new restaurants in quick succession.

The carnitas at El Faro. It’s my go to dish at La Troje and has assumed its rightful spot at El Faro.

From what I’ve been able to gather so far, the two El Faro restaurants will serve up the same food you’ve been able to order from La Troje with slight modifications. The Detroit St. restaurant’s location, referred to as El Faro Marisqueria (“seafood restaurant” in Spanish) on their Facebook page, will have a more “seafood-centric” slant. The Rozella location, known as El Faro Bar & Grill, will offer more traditional American fare such as sandwiches, tenders and wraps.

View from inside El Faro. Hopefully the outdoor seating will be able to be utilized by the restaurant.

Of course, with the Detroit St. location only open a few months and Rozella just a few weeks, things are bound to change so I’ll update this article as their menus and direction become clearer. In the meantime, take a gander at these images I snapped of the new Rozella location. You’d be hard pressed to find a better view while shoveling your way through an endless supply of tortillas and salsa.
