K County Quick Bites – Cinco de Mayo!

Spring is finally here so most of the warm-weather events in Kosciusko County are starting to ramp up. This includes the opening of the Garden at Winona (delayed a week from its original opening date) and the outdoor Tiki Bar at the Channel Marker in Syracuse. Plus, the downtown farmers and artisans market kicks off this Saturday! And lest we forget … an early “Happy Cinco de Mayo!”

This column is meant to be an additional channel beyond social media for food-related businesses to get the word out so I removed the references to Facebook page IDs. I figured if you wanted to find more info on each business/event, you could search on Google or find it yourself on Facebook. If there’s a huge outcry from the 24 people who will read this, I’ll add the IDs back in.

Oak & Alley – Outdoor seating is back and it’s kid friendly!
The Garden at Winona – They’re grand opening this year is Wednesday, May 16th from 5-10 pm. Updated menu and kid friendly so bring those little tax deductions.
Kosciusko County Farmers and Artisans Market – The market in downtown Warsaw opens for the season on May 5th. It will run through October 27th. Support your local peeps!
HopLore Brewing – First Friday Breakfast with the Brewer is Friday, May 4th at 7 am. Brisket and waffles, Chorizo egg bake, veggie frittata and of course … beer!
Rua – Pad Thai used to be on the menu once a month. It will now be available every Friday. Just another reason to love Fridays.
Silver Inn – New menu and new website. New reasons to check ‘em out!
The Channel Marker – The Tiki Bar opens Saturday, May 5th. Time to tiki!
OrthoCity Brewery and Smokehouse – They’ll be hosting a Cinco de Mayo event Saturday, May 5th starting at 4 pm. Five words – “cinnamon ice cream with churros.”
Pie Eyed Petey’s – They’re accepting applications wait staff, bartenders and cooks. Must apply in person!
The Sleepy Owl Supper Club – Comedian BT will be performing on Thursday, May 10th. Event is from 7-9 pm and admission is $5. Eat, drink and be merry!
Tippy Creek Winery – Live music by Dani Jamerson and food by JB’s “Cuisine Machine” is Sunday, May 6th from 12:30 to 3:30.
The Pier and Back Porch – Derby party! Goes from 2-6 pm with $9 Mint Juleps served in souvenir glasses (while supplies last). After the ponies are done, the Stoned Bluez Band will perform from 7-10 pm. Then, on Monday, May 7th, the new summer menu debuts.
Down Under Bar & Restaurant – In case you didn’t know, they have half price pizza every Wednesday night. You’re welcome.
Moe’s Southwest Grill – Opening on its new store in Warsaw is today. They’re hiring for crew members and shift supervisor positions.
Bulldog Saloon (Mentone) – Cinco de Mayo Fiesta this Saturday featuring live music from JFX. $1 tacos, y’all!
The Post (Pierceton) – The Stone Creek Band will be performing Friday, May 4th from 9 pm until 1 am. Get started early on those Cinco de Mayo celebrations!
The Frog – The band Smarty Pants will keep the Cinco de Mayo celebrations going with live music starting at 10 pm.
