K-County and the ‘Rona – Free Meals April 22 Through 29

Free meals in Kosciusko County have become the thing to do since Easter weekend. With private individuals, nonprofits and companies all coming together to cover the costs, the meals are starting to become more common across the county. This article covers free meals for those in need between the dates of April 22 and April 29.

Food Bank of Northern Indiana
The Food Bank will be distributing pre-boxed items free of charge to 500 households. The items can be picked up at Mentone Elementary (301 E. Jackson) starting at 10 on Wednesday, April 22.

Man Cave Brewing
Sponsored by the Women of Today, 200 meals will be available on Wednesday, April 22 starting at 4 pm. The meals can be picked up at Man Cave Brewing (10201 Indiana 13, Syracuse) and will consist of pork chops, au gratin potatoes and green beans.

Vineyard Community Church
The Syracuse church (7566 E 1000 N) will be giving away 500 meals on Saturday, April 25th. The event will start at noon and the meals will consist of chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans and dinner rolls. The food will be provided by The Down Under.

Syracuse Eagles
On Saturday, April 25th, F.O.E. 3760 (12889 N Kern Rd) will be giving away 200 char-grilled chicken dinners starting at 2 pm. The dinners will include a half chicken, cole slaw and baked beans.

The Sleepy Owl
Syracuse’s Sleepy Owl restaurant (11374 N State Road 13) has become one of the leading forces behind free meals in the county. Their partnerships with local community members and organizations has allowed them to offer another free meal on Sunday, April 26th. 175 free meals will be available at 4 pm at the Sleep Owl and will include pulled pork, baked beans and cole slaw.

Syracuse Cafe
The Syracuse Cafe (606 N. Huntington St.) will be providing 160+ free pancake and sausage breakfast meals beginning at 8:30 am on Sunday, April 26th. Meals will be served while supplies last.

The Channel Marker
Starting at 4 pm on Wednesday, April 29th, The Channel Marker in Syracuse (5793 E Pickwick Rd) will be providing 600 meals. The meals will include island grilled chicken, smashed red potatoes, salad with dressing and a dinner roll with butter.
