In news that will comes as absolutely no surprise to anyone who calls the area home, Warsaw and Winona Lake were named the most charming small town in Indiana by HGTV. Citing Winona Lake (the lake itself), the Village at Winona and the “concerts, performances and festivals,” HGTV chose my hometown community to be listed among its 50 most charming small towns in America.
I’ve always been a fierce defender of what I fondly call “Warnona” (Ooh, good idea for a t-shirt). I’ve lived here most of my life and besides being a great place to raise a family, it’s a great place to visit. From the free summer concert series in Central Park to the Fat and Skinny Tire Festival to the Wagon Wheel Performaing Arts Center and the new Miller Pavillion, there are so many things to do and places to visit and shop. Add to that the many lakes, beaches, restaurants and Midwest hospitality and the title of “most charming small town in Indiana” comes as no suprise.
From HGTV:
“Spend a day relaxing by beautiful Winona Lake in Warsaw, Indiana, and leave time to wander through the beautiful, historic Village at Winona. Once a summer retreat, this Northern Indiana destination is now a shopping mecca and a venue for concerts, performances and festivals. The Village is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.”
I’m proud to call the Warsaw/Winona Lake community home and I’m ecstatic to see it continue to garner accolades among the national media!
