Michelle Smith-LeDrew, owner of Glam Boutique, recently relocated back to her hometown of Warsaw, Indiana and brought with her an upscale boutique featuring hand-chosen collections of women’s apparel and accessories from all over the world. With the recent revitalization of many downtown business districts, Smith-LeDrew knew her boutique was meant to be a destination shoppe in downtown Warsaw.
Glam is a two-level boutique that caters to women of all ages, sizes, shapes, budgets and styles. After her first year of business in Warsaw, Smith-LeDrew expanded and opened the second level , “The Gallery at Glam”, which features dresses for all occasions. She travels the country to attend various markets and trade shows several times a year to find fresh, new lines to bring back to her loyal clientele. Her passion is making women feel beautiful from the inside out and she focuses on developing strong relationships with her clients and on creating a memorable experience every time a client walks through her door. Glam has partnered with many local businesses to bring high-energy runway shows, informative workshops and memorable events with a mission to give back to the community.
Smith-LeDrew has extensive experience in senior-level management in the fashion industry, and earned a Master of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. She is the proud mom to three sons, Zach, Bryce and Chase, who can often be found helping out in the boutique and during special events. She loves football, good food, and spending time with her family and friends. She describes her business as “her dream job.”
The downtown dining scene in Warsaw has exploded in recent years. What bar/restaurant were you most excited to try when they first opened?
“I’ve been excited about out all the new restaurants that have come to town: specifically One Ten Craft Meatery, Bella Vitale, and RUA! And, of course, you can’t go wrong with proven winners like Noa Noa and Cerulean. We are so fortunate to have so many great restaurants in our small town!”
When you’re considering somewhere to go for a special dinner, what restaurants in the county top your wish list and why?
“When we are going out for a special dinner, we enjoy ambiance and great atmosphere as much as we do great food, so we usually choose One Ten, Noa Noa, RUA, or Belle Vitale for special events.”
Do you have a favorite dish? If so, where can we find it?
“My favorite dish is filet mignon and you can’t beat the steaks at Noa Noa. I also love the brussel sprouts from One Ten (to die for), the Mediterranean salad from Bella Vitale (tip: get 1/2 salad with your meal), and the spicy orzo from RUA (melts in your mouth good). Also, homemade soup from the American Table (my favorite is sauerkraut)!”
Any favorite cocktails?
“I love a good bloody mary and a great glass of wine. Right now, I’m crushing hard on the Cat Man Cocktail at RUA. So yummy and there’s a great story to go along with its name.”
A new restaurant will be coming to the Meijer complex and eating establishments will presumably be included in the Buffalo St. project. What types of restaurants would you like to see in the future in Warsaw?
“My wishlist for new restaurants in Warsaw: Japanese/Hibachi, a really great family restaurant that focuses on barbecue, and a fine-dining experience.”
What are you most proud about when it comes to the dining scene in Kosciusko County and how do you think we can continue the growth we’ve seen in recent years?
“I’m so proud to live and do business in Kosciusko County! It’s an amazing community filled with people who have big hearts and come together during times of need.”
“This past October, Glam partnered with J Three Salon, My Simple Soirée and One Ten Craft Meatery for Glam 2.0, Glam’s second anniversary celebration gala and fundraiser for the Smithstrong Foundation Fund in memory of Michelle’s beloved father and brother, Charlie and Scott Smith. The sold-out event was held at The Vic at One Ten and featured a runway show, a surprise video from Bachelor Ben Higgins and fiancé, Lauren Bushnell, a pop-up shoppe, delicious food and a decadent champagne bar.
I’m so proud to live and do business in Kosciusko County! It’s an amazing community filled with people who have big hearts and come together during times of need. There is a true sense of community here, and our people value and support small/local business…so important for our downtown business district to thrive and grow!”
