North Webster’s Oswalt Family Bakery and Cafe – Where the Donuts are Bigger Than Your Face

If you find yourself visiting Kosciusko County on your latest overnight escape or weekend getaway, head to the Oswalt Family Bakery and Cafe. That is where you will find a donut bigger than your face. While the family-owned bakery serves up a full food menu, what they are really known for is the gargantuan size of their donuts. Big enough to cover the face of any normal-sized (or even oversized) human being, the donut size isn’t just a gimmick. They’re actually tasty and with a size big enough to feed a small family, it’s just what any pastry-loving person would require to kick off their morning … and hopefully share with others.

Not all of the donuts share the circumference of small tree trunks. They have regular-sized donuts as well. When the biggest donut you have ever set your eyes on is staring back at you through a glass wall, you get it. “Go big or go home” is a mantra I like to apply to a lot of things in my life and when it comes to donuts, that seems to apply just as much as any other aspect of my life. Sure, you could get a normal donut but where is the fun in that? Plus, you have to do it for the ‘gram because no one will believe it unless you do.

Follow your Google directions and you’ll find yourself staring at the front of Oswalt’s. It’s a nondescript building so don’t miss it. Just look for the North Webster Ace Hardware, go north of it less than 100 feet and the shopping center that is home to Oswalt’s will be across the street. The bakery/cafe is at the southern end of the complex.

Is it worth a trip from wherever you are? Well, yeah … it’s a big ass donut. That’s always worth the journey. Just don’t blame me if your waist size expands a notch or two. It’ll go away eventually … maybe … or not. Just keep telling yourself “Go big or go home” and you’ll be fine. Trust me. 🙂

And remembmer, you can wash that bigger-than-your-face donut down with some delicious coffee purchased straight from a castle.
